Introducing the Love It Collection, by Hilary Farr

Posted on December 6, 2019 by House Fabric

HFBP 1Work magic like Hilary Farr in your own home with the Love It Collection, Hilary Farr’s introductory collection with Covington Fabrics. The collection features an eclectic mix of prints, woven textures, embroideries, and jacquards in an array of colors. Each fabric stands alone with style, and there are limitless combinations to coordinate whole rooms. Hilary draws on her love of nature, arts, and culture to bring that to your home.

Notable entries in the collection are Lounge Lizard and Earthly Paradise, pictured here together. Farr aimed to design a fabric HFBP 2combining the 3D look of a reptile skin with a tonal ombre stripe, which resulted in Lounge Lizard. The fabric is an updated reptile skin jacquard with raised details. The subtle iridescent quality and embossed texture are refreshing complements to the screen-printed linen of Earthly Paradise, and the five colorways make it applicable to almost any room.

Animals feature heavily in the collection, including tigers in Le Tigre, parakeets in Hello Polly (pictured at top) and African elephants in Loxodonta. The playful Loxodonta, seen to the right in batik blue, was inspired by Hilary’s activism in protecting wild African elephants.

Wabi Sabi grounds the collection, acting as a building block to pair with the other fabrics. Woven from filament and boucle polyester yarns, and space-dyed with five colors, Wabi Sabi has a complex weave pattern that creates a lot of surface interest and depth.

Featured Designers – Laura and Kiran

Posted on July 25, 2018 by House Fabric

lauraandkirancoupleSince their first date at the color festival of Holi, Laura and Kiran’s mutual love of Indian textiles paired with a modern touch has only been strengthening ever since. After marrying, the couple moved to California in 1980, where they began designing textiles and creating clothing which was sold nationwide. In 1993, after being primarily a clothing label for 10 years, a friend asked to cover furniture in their fabrics. This caused the company to switch to fabrics for home furnishing.

The designs are inspired by old textiles found in India’s bazaars and palaces, but paired with a modern flair which is so unique to the company. With each fabric design handprinted or hand dyed and woven by master craftsman, every piece is guaranteed to be special.

According to Kiran himself, “We delight in creating fresh and modern designs by

reinventing traditional motifs and infusing them with contemporary color.” Customers love the traditional roots which can be used to give all homes a pleasant twist and warm aura. Widely successful and popular among followers, Laura and Kiran fabrics continue to impress with not only their quality, but creative patterns which can only be found with their unique foreign influence. Used in both traditional and modern interiors, the unique patterns look fantastic no matter the setting.

Vern Yip Collection featuring 04225 Navy Vern Yip

We recently brought in a beautiful grouping of Vern Yip’s new fabric collection. Trend-fabrics.com recently sat down with the Architect, Interior designer and T.V. Personality to discuss their second collaboration. We wanted to share some of the highlights and our own favorites. His new collection has everything, bright, rich colors, new exciting prints and plenty of timeless classics.  Make sure to shop www.housefabric.com for the latest Vern Yip fabrics.

04242 Navy

Animal prints have been a design staple for quite some time now so the challenge has become offering new takes on it that will layer nicely while also seeming fresh. This interpretation of an antelope’s coloring and spotting is so dynamic. The version in Navy is so unexpected but instantly feels like a classic.

Everyone knows that I’m a fanatic for orange! I love how it freshly partners with so many colors. This exotic bird print brings together beautiful line work with Grey, Aqua, Bark, Moss, and Orange to create a stylish and rich print that also manages to be soothing. I love how absolutely versatile this print is and how many different colors you can pull out of it!

Vern also mentions his favorite color combination grey and citrine! We love 04225 Citrine and 04250 Citrine. Chinosorie is a classic design element that our customers have been embracing. The dragon print is bold and the grey citrine combination is so eye catching. The textured velvet is so luxurious but also durable and can be used for window treatments, upholstery or bedding. They make stunning coordinates.

This entire collection is full of inspirational prints, rich colors and texture and can be used for multi purpose applications from upholstery to window treatments. Shop everything we carry and more here https://www.housefabric.com/Default.aspx

Featured Designers – Madcap Cottage

Posted on December 13, 2017 by House Fabric

madcap-lp-l-img-2017Our latest Robert Allen @ Home collection with Madcap Cottage made a big impression at Showtime Market. The large-scale painterly designs coupled with a new vivid and cheerful palette update traditional chintz-like florals for today’s modern interiors.

Brimming with that signature Madcap whimsy, these fabrics layer beautifully or are ideal for a pop of color and pattern in small doses.

Known for their whimsical yet sophisticated use of color and pattern, the design duo behind Madcap Cottage scours the world for eclectic finds and inspiration that captures their unique sensibilities. They run their firm—an ever-changing design “laboratory”—in a former pharmacy in the heart of High Point, NC, the hub for American decorative arts.

Madcap Cottage Pillows

Standout Madcap Cottage interiors include a jewel-hued loft in downtown New York City, a color-rich, playful beach house in the Hamptons, a sophisticated 1920s-era bungalow in the Midwest, a historic shotgun-style cottage in the French Quarter and a former mill on the outskirts of London.

Collecting and curating is a way of life for Jason Oliver Nixon and John Loecke, the design duo behind esteemed firm Madcap Cottage. For their second collaboration with Robert Allen @ Home, the designers present a vibrant collection full of their signature wit and whimsy but with an added dose of far-flung glamour inspired by their own travel adventures. Patterns are hand-drawn and echo those from the 50s and 60s. Exotic toiles, splashy florals, stunning geometrics and lyrical embroideries mingle to create a transporting, riotous mix of color that lends itself to numerous applications.

Madcap Cottage Fabrics

Windsor Park Palm, Bermuda Bay Palm, Windy Corner Indigo, Mill Reef Indigo, and Gem Palace BK Indigo

The premier collection by Madcap Cottage for Robert Allen @ Home offers a verdant array of oversized florals, cascading foliage, knockout neutrals and exquisite wovens—layered with elegant embroideries and coordinating geometrics. Bright, peppy hues like pool blue, rhubarb pink and sunny daffodil, rendered in dramatic scales and style-forward patterns, seamlessly play off each other to form a whimsical garden that will transform any space into a lush sanctuary.

Featured Designers – Tilton Fenwick

Posted on January 14, 2015 by House Fabric

tilton-fenwick-maxwell-cunningham

Today we are featuring one of the designers that we carry Tilton Fenwick. Find their collection at HouseFabric.com

What is your favorite pattern from your collection & why?  So difficult to pick just one! “Rocat” is one we think greatly represents our collection and our decorating style, incorporating a rich variety of patterns and colors in just one print. We love the versatility of this fabric as well, with a border design that can also be used for trimming and other coordinating details in a room.

If you weren’t a designer, what would you be?  We both started careers out of college in advertising but today if we weren’t designing at Tilton Fenwick, Suysel would be a hotelier in Tulum, Mexico and Anne would be a real estate broker.

What was your favorite part about working with Duralee on your collection? The collaboration with the design team was incredible. We had such synergy throughout the design process and looked forward to walking up to their studio (just a few blocks from our office!) for meetings. We learned so much from them about textile design and in addition to our working relationship we developed a true friendship with the whole team. We know our collection was only improved by this incredible collaboration.
